What is an apprenticeship ?

As an apprentice you will work alongside experienced staff, in a real job, to develop the skills you need to accelerate, and advance your career. Apprenticeships are unique in that they allow you to both learn and earn at the same time. All Apprenticeships are fully-funded meaning you won’t be out of pocket, or owing any debt following your qualification completion.

You’ll spend most of your time in salon and will be given a set amount of time to complete your studies, supported throughout by your personal Trainer Coach who will give you the one to one support you need to succeed.

Apprenticeships are available from Foundation Level all the way up to Higher Apprenticeships, meaning what ever stage you’re at in your career, whether you’ve just left school, haven’t got the qualifications you wanted, or have graduated with a degree there’s an Apprenticeship for you.

Employers respect and value apprentices as they’re able to demonstrate real life experience and skills that can immediately improve business performance. Doing an Apprenticeship can open doors for you – you’ll get direct salon experience, get your name heard and add real value to your CV.

The amount you’ll be paid as an apprentice will vary according to your job role, and the employer you’re working for, however, all apprentices will be paid at least the Apprenticeship Minimum Wages – with many receiving much more than this.

Who can apply?

Anyone over the age of 16 can apply for an Apprenticeship. Apprenticeships are open to anyone, of any age, sex or ethnicity. At Educ8 we’re incredibly passionate about supporting, and promoting, equal opportunities. Almost every Apprenticeship can be made accessible whilst funding is available should any workplace adjustments be required.

How do I become an apprentice?

• Your Apprenticeship starts with finding the perfect Apprenticeship, keep an eye out for your favourite salons in the local area, you can follow our social media channels where we’ll also be posting upcoming positions. Alternatively take you can take a look on the Apprenticeship Vacancy Service (AVS)
• Once you’ve found an Apprenticeship you would like to go for make sure you do some research on the company and role. Check out the salon’s website and get a feel for their look and creative style.
• Fill out and send your application form/ CV
• If and when you get through to the interview stage make sure you practice, practice, practice – ask a friend or family member to help you prep and test you. Check out our guide toApprenticeship below for some top interview acing tips!
• Once you’ve been notified you’ve been successful – congratulations! – the ISA team will be in touch to complete your onboarding
• Next you’ll complete your learner registration
• You’ll need to support this with proof of identification, such as a passport, birth certificate etc.
• You’ll then need to complete your essential skills assessments – don’t worry, this is just to check if you require any extra support which we will then make sure to offer to help you succeed
• All apprentices will meet their very own recruiter, who will help you get set up on our innovative Moodle – which allows you to learn at a time that suits you
• Your learning journey begins here. You’ll meet your Trainer Coach, who’ll be your personal, one to one, support throughout your Apprenticeship
